An Afternoon In Moore

Last Saturday the hubs and I headed out with two of our friends to Moore, OK to join about 30 other people that we know to spend the day there. We were all going there to support one of Mike's best friends, Nathan, as he participated in his very first MMA fight. This is something that he has been training for months for, so it was without question that we would be there for him.

Normally this stuff makes me absolutely cringe! I just can't even stand watching it. And that was still the case when we were there and things got under way. During the first fight, I hardly looked up at all. The second fight, I looked up, but was watching it between my fingers. Then the third fight was Nathan's turn. I thought it was going to be 10 times worse for me watching someone I actually know participating. I fully expected to bawl my eyes out the whole time. However, my strong competitive side came out in full force! I was yelling and cheering him on throughout the whole thing. It still wasn't easy to watch, but I was excited for him to be able to be doing something that he's worked so hard far. Due to some quick paced changes just before the fight and the ref calling it early, he did lose, but he put up a great fight! Everyone has a first fight and I couldn't have been more proud to watch him do this. Now I can't wait for all the next ones to come! Love you Nate! Mike and I are so proud of you!

Sunday Song

This one is coming just a little bit late. My Sunday got away from me yesterday.

"You Alone"

You are the only one I need
I bow all of me at Your feet
I worship You alone

You have given me more than
I could ever have wanted
And I want to give You my heart and my soul

You alone are Father
And You alone are good
You are alone are Savior
And You alone are God

I'm alive, I'm alive
I'm alive, I'm alive

Sunday Song

"Blessed Be Your Name"

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

Sunday Song

"Shout To The Lord"

My Jesus, my savior,
Lord, there is none like You;
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.

My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength;
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing;
Power and majesty, praise to the King;
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands;
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand;
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

My Jesus, my savior,
Lord, there is none like You;
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.

My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength;
Let every breath, all that I am,
Never cease to worship You.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing;
Power and majesty, praise to the King;
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands;
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand;
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing;
Power and majesty, praise to the King;
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands;
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand;
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.

Tulsa Run

My life really isn't all that exciting...I'm not even sure why I have a blog. haha! So here's just a little update for you on what I'm up to.

This week the hubs and I have started training for the Tulsa Run, which will be on October 31st. We are both very, very new to something like this and have never done anything like it in our lives. We will certainly not be doing the entire 15k, but we plan on running the 5k. We're really excited about it and have enjoyed getting ready for it together so far. And even more fun, a bunch of people we know have joined in and our planning on doing it too now! This is something that we want to keep up and participate in every year. I can't wait till October now!

Sunday Song

"Blessed Assurance"

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blessed,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to the best Mom that I have ever known!

Mom - I just want you to know that I am so blessed to have you as my mother. You have raised (in my opinion) three wonderful and beautiful children and we are all blessed to have you in our lives. I respect you so much as a Christian woman, mother, and friend. Thank you for being there for me through bad pimples and bad boyfriends. Through moving away and missing home. Through diagnosis and surgery. Through shots and early menopause. Through engagement and wedding. Let's just face it...that wedding wouldn't have happened without you! So thank you for it all.

Simply put, you are incredible. Thank you for being such a great mother and friend to me. I hope you have a wonderful day today where we choose to honor you. I love you!

Sunday Song

"Glory In The Highest" Chris Tomlin

You are the first
You go before
You are the last
Lord, You're the encore
Your name's in lights for all to see
The starry host declare Your glory

Glory in the highest
Glory in the highest
Glory in the highest

Apart from You there is no god
Light of the world
The Bright and Morning Star
Your name will shine for all to see
You are the one
You are my glory

And no one else could ever compare
To You, Lord
All the earth together declares ...
Glory in the highest ... to You, Lord

All the earth will sing Your praise
The moon and stars, the sun and rain
Every nation will proclaim
That You are God and You will reign

Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory to You, Lord
Glory, glory hallelujah
Hallelujah

Graduation!

Well, we finally did it! Mike and I graduated last Friday, May 1st. It was a great day full of celebrations. Mike's parents, my parents, one of my brother's and sister-in-law, my nieces and nephew, and my Grandma all got to come! It was so nice to have all of those people there to share in the day with us. Both sets of our parents and my grandma then stayed the night and helped us move all day the next day. It was a long and tiring day, but it was great to have everyone's help and we were so excited to be moving to Tulsa! We are now moving on to a new chapter of our lives and are looking forward to all that it will bring!

The three reasons why we were sad to leave Edmond.

Proud parents!

More proud parents.

The nieces playing with our graduation hats.

Moving day!

Our very first place! We'll miss you Apt. 113.

Sunday Song

"My Deliverer" Rich Mullins

Joseph took his wife and her child and they went to Africa
To escape the rage of a deadly king
There along the banks of the Nile, Jesus listened to the song
That the captive children used to sing
They were singin'

My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by

Through a dry and thirsty land, water from the Kenyon heights
Pours itself out of Lake Sangra's broken heart (its broken heart)
There in the Sahara winds Jesus heard the whole world cry
For the healing that would flow from God's own scars
I hear Moses singing

My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by

He will never break His promise - He has written it upon the sky

My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by

I will never doubt His promise though I doubt my heart, I doubt my eyes

My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by

He will never break His promise though the stars should break faith with
the sky

My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming - my Deliverer is standing by
My Deliverer is coming

Sunday Song

"Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble?"

Did you feel the mountains tremble?
Did you hear the oceans roar?
When the people rose to sing of
Jesus Christ, the risen One

Did you feel the people tremble?
Did you hear the singers roar?
When the lost began to sing of
Jesus Christ, the Saving One

And we can see that
God You’re moving
A mighty river through the nations
And young and old will turn to Jesus
Fling wide you heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

Open up the doors
Let the music play
Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring Your hope
Songs that bring Your joy
Dancers who dance
Upon injustice

Do you feel the darkness tremble?
When all the saints join in one song
And all the streams flow as one river
To wash away our brokenness

Welcome To The World Ryland!

Our good friends, Chris and Amelia, finally had their baby on Tuesday! So yesterday Mike and I made the trip to Tulsa to meet baby Ryland. We also had to deliver some particular brownies to Amelia. A long while back she had requested some of my brownies for when she was in the hospital, so, of course, we had to bring them! While we were there visiting she asked me why we made the trip just to be there for a few hours. I tried telling her about the brownies and how important they were for her, but she just wouldn't hear it! She made me admit that we really made the trip for Ryland! There may have been just a little bit of truth to this... But I was definitely glad to get to see Chris and Amelia too. It's fun to see them in this new role of parents and I can't wait to see them grow in it...and to get to spoil Ryland like crazy!

Some snuggle time with Ryland.

The new family!

In addition to the brownies I also made some Oreo Pops. This time I made them in a Liverpool soccer theme for Ryland (or really his Daddy) since that's the theme of his room. They turned out pretty cute!

Sunday Song

I have been reading the blog Bless Our Nest for a while now and she weekly makes a post called "Sunday Song". I have decided to start making this weekly post myself. It will simply consist of the lyrics to a song that I find encouraging for myself. And cool enough, I actually have the song on here at the bottom of the post and you can listen to it. I will try to add that each week if it is available. So here is my first Sunday Song.

"In Christ Alone"

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Happy Easter!

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you." So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
Matthew 28: 5-8

I pray that you all have had a wonderfully blessed Easter weekend with your friends and family as you remember the gift of the Resurrection that Christ gave to us. May you be filled with the same joy that these women were filled with that day.

A Night For Baking

I am a baker. Be sure to note the word bake. Cook...not so much my thing. Who needs three wonderfully cooked meals a day when you can bake cute treats all day long?? That's pretty much my philosophy on life, and tonight was a perfect night for baking.

I decided to make some Easter Oreo Pops. They are oh so cute and, even better, oh so delicious! I found the recipe here at One More Moore. These were so easy and I will definitely be making them for many more occasions! Now I just need to find someone to give them to so Mike and I don't eat all of them...

Look at all the sprinkle options!! I just love sprinkles!

So cute! I just love 'em!

The Time Is A-Flyin'

I am 1 month away from graduation.

Which means I am 4 weeks away from finals.

Which means I am 3 weeks away from the last week of classes.

Which means I am 2 weeks away from my last day of work in retail.

Which means I am 1 week away from starting to pack up my life from here.

These past four years will be wrapped in just a few weeks. It's slightly bittersweet. But mainly just sweet!

I Have Issues...

Okay folks, let me be honest with you here. I have an ever-growing addiction problem right now. The addiction is to buying precious, precious little girl clothes from my work. The two items pictured here (a precious yellow sundress and a gorgeous, belted white coat) are just the latest editions to the quite large, ever-growing pile. I just can't help myself! They were getting clearanced out and were cheap. Stupid cheap, people. Add my 20% off discount on top of that and I just can't help myself! Dave Ramsey would be so ashamed of me...

But I'm sure you are all thinking, "Well, that's okay, she has two adorable nieces. I'm sure she gives all those clothes to them! How sweet!" Hmm, let's see here... I have two extremely adorable nieces...true. I give all of these clothes to them...unfortunately, false. You see my dear friends, these clothes are for my unborn, even unconceived!, adorable children of my own, of whom I have no idea if any of them will even be girls! Perhaps one day I will have a very cutely dressed little girl, or just a very large garage sale as I live in a house full of boys! Like I said folks, I have issues...

Gonna Leave This Town Behind, Edition #2

Today's adventure took Mike and I to Falcone's! I swear all of our places we go to won't be restaurants... haha! But this place is another one of our favorites here in Edmond. It is a true Italian pizzeria and is simply great! A funny story about this place...when it was being built the owner, Danny Falcone, wanted to have awnings put at the top with red, green, and white stripes to resemble the Italian flag. Well, here in Edmond decisions like that have to be approved by the city council. Unfortunately, they turned him down, so he showed his disapproval by hanging a sign right next to the menu that has the heading of "Your business is not welcome here..." and then individually names each person that was on that city council board! Don't mess with the Italians, people!

Mike got a slice of cheese pizza, which is so big that you have to fold it in half to eat it, as he is demonstrating here. haha!

I got a stromboli, which is just full of yummy deliciousness!

And if you go to Falcone's you have to get a cannoli! Well, I suppose you don't have to...it would probably be a smart decision not to get one considering how many calories are in those things... But since it was Mike and I's last time to eat there, we definitely had to get one!
