Well, well, well...

Apparently I got tagged...apparently I don't update very often... Hey, I said that when I first made this thing. I do not have a very exciting life, nor a very exciting mind. Therefore, there's not too much to blog about. But I suppose I will participate in this. :)

Here are the rules:
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. I sucked my thumb until I was in about third grade.
2. I own a lot of perfumes/body sprays and they are all arranged in order of company and then in alphabetical order within company.
3. I've been trying to stop biting my nails for about 5 years now. I swear it's gonna happen.
4. I absolutely hate wearing socks.
5. I absolutely hate winter.
6. I absolutely love rain. Seriously, love it. I'm not tired of it at all. I wouldn't mind it raining every day.
7. I wear the same six pieces of jewlery every day.
8. I played one year of sports growing up. My brothers played sports all year, every year growing up. I have broken a total of 4 bones, they have broken none.

And I'm sure most people have been tagged by now so I shall just stop here now.

Don't You Just Love Traditions?

It is tradition in Kappa Sigma Tau that when one of the members gets engaged they are thrown into the very gross and stinky OC Pond, having to swim to the middle, touch the fountain, and swim back. Well, Mike's time came today. He was ambushed after one of his classes and drug to the pond. I was tipped off in just enough time to make it over there with my camera!

Changes

Well, I have changed my major. I went from Early Childhood Education to Liberal Studies focusing in Bible/Religious Education, Professional Education, and Family Studies. What am I going to do with that? I have absolutely no clue. But, surprisingly, the girl who always has to have everything planned out, is okay with that. It just feels good. I simply realized that I didn't want to be "stuck" in a classroom. Bad word to use, I'm sure, but that's how it felt to me. I love children, I would love to work with children, but in what area? Not really sure. But again, I'm okay with that. God has His plan and I know it will all work out.

Happy Birthday to...Me!!

Well, tomorrow officially ends my teen years when I turn 20. I'm pretty excited about this. I will be grateful to no longer be a "teenager" and be in the same age range as Mike, since he's already 21 now. But really, being 20 just means...I'm half way to 40 now! :)

A Message to Shane From Mike

Finally!!

Spring seems to have arrived here in Oklahoma! And hopefully it's not a trick but is here to stay! I am so very happy about this! You will never hear me say I love winter. In fact, I come pretty close to despising it. It may be due to my spoiled, pathetic nature (I blame my parents), but I just don't do well in the cold. But Spring!! I absolutely love it! It is by far my most favorite season. The warm weather, the colors, the shorts and short sleeves, the flowers, the wonderful holidays (Easter and, of course, my birthday!) I just simply love it all. Everyone is more cheerful, coming out of the dark, cold winter times. It's all just so wonderful to me. So, needless to say, I am a very happy camper right now! :)

We're Engaged!!

Here's the story:

On Friday night, one of my friend’s, Roxanne, had asked me to go to Starbucks with her on Saturday night, so I said sure. Then on Saturday Mike and I had celebrated our 2-year anniversary together all day long, so, naturally, after that day had ended around 8:30 that night I was very tired. Well, a little less than an hour after that Roxanne called me saying she was ready to go to Starbucks. I tried telling her that I was very tired and didn’t really feel like going, but she was very persistent about me going! I was so confused and couldn’t figure out why going to Starbucks was such a big deal! She ended our phone conversation by saying, “Vanessa, I am going to be at your dorm in five minutes. Get downstairs!” So when she hung up I called Mike and told him what was going on. I just kept saying things like, “She’s being so mean to me! She’s trying to force me to go to Starbucks!” and Mike was just laughing and laughing. I kept saying to him, “It’s not funny! She’s gonna come beat me up if I don’t go!!” He just kept telling me that I should go and that I would have fun. So we got off the phone and Roxanne called saying she was at my dorm and if I didn’t come downstairs she was going to come up to my room and drag me out! haha! So I complied simply because I was scared of her!! So I get in the car with her and another friend, Julie Martin. On our way there Roxanne said that she wanted to stop by Hafer Park first because there was a place in it that her boyfriend thought she might like to get married at. My response: “Fine, but I’m not getting out of the car! It’s cold!” So we get to the spot and it’s a little gazebo by the pond. Roxanne then forces me to get out of the car, much to my disdain, saying she wants to go look at it. So as we’re walking up to it Roxanne says “Aww, look! Christmas lights!” I replied with saying, “Yeah, someone stupid probably forgot to take them down after Christmas.” haha! Then once we’re at the gazebo we walk down to a lower part of it and from around the corner across from us I see a guy walk around it and I notice that he is smiling at us. My first thought, “Oh my goodness, there is some creepy man here! We’ve got to get out of here!!” So I turn to look at Roxanne and Julie to see what they’re going to do and they were just smiling like little fools! I was so confused and scared and wanting to get out of there!! But for some reason I turned to look at the person again…and it was Mike!! So then Julie and Roxanne walk off and Mike and I start walking towards each other where we meet in the middle of the Christmas lights. He then said wonderfully sweet things and proposed! :)

A Gift From Home

This week I received my care package from Memorial Drive and the children's ministry. I'd forgotten about those and was very surprised and excited when I saw the pink slip in my mailbox! The care package was filled with all sorts of fun and interesting goodies that are great for a college student! I am so blessed to be a part of a church that still thinks of their members while they are away.

Well, I got tagged...

Here is how it works:
1) Grab the book closest to you
2) Open to page 123, go down to the fourth sentence
3) Post the text of the following three sentences
4) Name the author and book title
5) Tag three people to do the same

"I see the color green in a new way. I hear the crickets chirp without being annoyed. And just last night the stars up in the sky were beautiful, and I thought about how Abraham looked at the same ones."
Rich Mullins: An Arrow Pointing to Heaven - James Bryan Smith
(A book I highly recommend!)

And, I don't believe I'll be tagging anyone because I think every blog I read on here has already been tagged. So, I'll let it stop with me.

PS - Was that fast enough for you, Mom? :)

Back to School for OC

Well, we have been back in school since Tuesday here at OC. The students certainly weren't very happy about that - especially since the campus was still covered in ice and we were the only school in the metro area in classes. But oh well, it's almost the weekend now, which could possibly cause us to, again, get out of classes!

My Movement and Fine Arts class (the "circle time" one) is getting more and more interesting! So far this week all we have really done is sing songs and draw pictures that get to be hung up on the walls - for all the other classes to see! That has been an interesting experience for me, who has no art talent whatsoever. I just tell everyone I'm really getting into the spirit of acting like a Kindergartner. :)

Well, Mike and I tried to come home last weekend, but the weather kept us out. We were trying to come home this weekend. The weather is keeping us out. So we have our fingers crossed for next weekend! Hopefully we will see you all then. Stay safe and warm!

A little bit of this, a little bit of that...

Well, I do believe I began this blog page telling you all that I certainly am not the best blogger ever. I don't blog very often and I don't blog funny, exciting, insightful, deep, or even remotely interesting stories. *lol* My life just isn't that exciting. I'm just a mere college student trying to make the grades. Remember a while back when Shane made a post of many of his random thoughts? That's what my blogs will be. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. So with that said...

School has begun again. And let me just tell you, Benjamin Gatewood is all over this campus! He's a very popular little boy on the minds, hearts, and lips of people everywhere. I just love that!

I'm only taking 16 hours this semester, which is my short semester, so it should be a pretty good one. Though this semester, I have definitely realized that I am an Education major. My TTh class at 9:30 in the morning always begins with circle time. Yes, that's right, circle time. We all sit around the multi-colored rug where we sing a song, share good news, or do other various activities while our professor responds to us like we are five year-old's. It's interesting to say the least... *lol*

Over the Christmas Break I think I was asked about 30 times if I was engaged. Who knows where this stuff comes from, but let me just make my own announcement saying that no, I am not engaged. Trust me, everyone would know if I was. :)

There is an ice storm warning over Oklahoma City for the weekend. A campus-wide e-mail was sent out today telling of precautions that will be taken if the storm hits us. One could involve potentially lost power resulting in everyone who lives on campus moving over to the Student Center where we will be provided with a generator power, food, and a corner to sleep in. Let's just say, I certainly hope things don't come to that. *lol*

Well, I suppose I ought to go study, or something. :) I hope you all have a nice and safe weekend!
